   - Engineering Technician

PARC has a vacancy for a skilled ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN to join their team providing technical support to its Test Engineers. The successful candidate will be required to carry out mechanical and electrical work (including 3-phase); tasks such as drilling, wiring, faultfinding. Knowledge of refrigeration systems is desirable. The role will typically involve:

  • Internal Maintenance
    • Repair and maintenance of in-house test equipment
    • Liaison with external maintenance contractors
  • Fixturing
    • Manufacturing of in-house test fixtures
    • Responsibility for maintenance of hand and power tools
    • Supplier management, outsourcing parts, tools and materials
  • Forklift Driving
    • Primary forklift driver (subject to licence)
    • Responsible for forklift service and general condition
    • Responsible for all lifting equipment, trucks and trolleys
  • General Engineering Support
    • Packaging and arranging shipment of larger items
    • Support and assistance with other testing including ingress protection, corrosion
  • Calibration:
    • Assist with equipment preparation for external calibration
    • Some in-house equipment calibration

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate is likely to be educated to GCSE Grade C level with previous experience in a mechanical/electrical manufacturing/ testing/engineering environment. Relevant training provided.

Some computer literacy required, especially in MS Word and Excel.

Excellent working conditions, a 39.5-hour week with 25-days holiday per annum, plus Bank Holidays.
